If you are open to having treats made for you, this is the place for you to post your ‘Dear Creator’ letters and share the requests you put in your sign-up. Reading these letters is for many of us a delight in and of itself, and many people (including several of the mods) really enjoy and find inspiration in making treats for people.

You can either copy and paste the info from your signup form into the format below, and/or write a 'dear creator' letter either in a comment here, or link to one in your journal! Try to be as specific as possible in your requests - this will give people creating for you the best chance at making something you like, and also the best chance at sparking their creativity.

The Sundial Exchange believes that Your Kink is Not My Kink and That’s Okay, and that if you Do Not Like, Do Not Click. Every participant will have different takes on canon, on ships, on how they experience the characters, informed by the blending of what that person brings to the text in life experience and the text itself. With that in mind, please be detailed and precise in the 'optional details' section about your DNWs for mediums, tropes, themes and kinks, stated in a neutral manner, ie 'DNW [insert kink]', not '[insert kink] sucks'.

I love how intense and weird these two are about each other, Shen Wei being BAMF, Zhao Yunlan being clever, both of them being competent and smart, the way they both care deeply about the work they do. I also adore each of them separately, the whole of the SID, the cases of the week, and basically everything about the drama including worldbuilding (aliens, yes!) and the ending (both Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan using their own death to wring victory from disaster, and also that promise to meet again).

I prefer either canon-compliant things or canon divergence (including handwavy post-canon) - complete AUs are not my thing.

For shippiness, most of all I want something that shows off their strengths and their connection, whether that's in a case of the week, a PWP, a shared quiet moment, or anything else.

Some ideas: mutual protectiveness and willingness to sacrifice; UST early in canon; navigating an established relationship during canon; getting together late in canon, during or after the blindness arc or even post canon; canon divergence where Zhao Yunlan gets closer to the Envoy before he knows he's Shen Wei; a different Envoy reveal; something post-finale where they find each other again; Shen Wei subtly trolling people; anything about the time loop and the way they both help shape the person they already met. I'd love some Dixing worldbuilding, too, especially with good things about Dixing, maybe Zhao Yunlan coming to like Dixing? Or just them spending personal time there. Also, anything involving Shen Wei in Envoy cloak, especially if it's romantic or sexy.

For porn, I prefer Shen Wei topping or domming, and sex involving Dixing powers would be awesome. For h/c, I'd like to see Zhao Yunlan being hurt/injured. For angst, I'd love to see more Zhao Yunlan angst!

I'd also love to see Shen Wei interacting with other people, preferably with a background of Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan. Some suggestions: reconciling with his brother (even if it's difficult for both of them); anything involving Chu Shuzhi and his loyalty towards the Envoy; mentoring Li Qian; any of the people from his Professor Shen life finding out about the Black-Cloaked Envoy. Something that shows parts of his life that aren't about Zhao Yunlan.

DNWs: permanent character death; partner betrayal; humiliation; noncon; woobification; mundane AUs; soulmates; A/B/O; mpreg; unmitigated fluff; unhappy endings; a focus on pining; Shen Wei being passive, naïve, submissive, shy and/or totally out of his depth (even in flashbacks); an interpretation of Zhao Yunlan as taking advantage of Shen Wei/Shen Wei's feelings (even as a mistaken outsider POV); depowered Shen Wei; anything involving reincarnation; anything involving nonhumans becoming human.

Optional details: I am really all about the hurt/comfort. I would really love some h/c focused art, as there is never enough of that! I also would be delighted with a "book cover" graphic for any of my fics. And of course, I always love new fic to read! (I'm also not very imaginative in thinking of mediums, so really anything non-audio!)
I love Weilan and the trust and tenderness between them. My preference is for stories set around or in aftermath to an event over slice-of-life. I like them living in happy post-canon world where everyone is fine, but also really enjoy missing scenes/tags, fixits, and fork-in-the-road AUs.

General likes
What I really like in literally all circumstances is hurt/comfort for my faves. Fluffy hurt comfort all the way down to really intense tragic hurt/comfort (I have a not-so-secret preference for the more intense end). I love all the super tropey things in this genre -- magical exhaustion, concussion, drugged, huddling for warmth, feverish hallucinations, etc etc. I'm also here for the strong friendships and emotional feels, and bonding through adversity/realising how much their relationship MEANS etc. (I'm also extremely here for ANGST if you like that, and am very fine with very dark Archive Warning themes -- I just want a happy or at least hopeful ending!)

I don't really know how to give good art "general likes" -- I am generally just SO impressed with people who can art! Like, if you want to draw for me, I'm incredibly confident that I will LOVE it.
