How did you first get into Guardian fandom? mekare posted fanart and talked about the show and it seemed relevant to my interests, especially after I watched a couple vids. Took me a while to get into it, but once I did, hoo boy.

What is one thing you love about the show? The absolute devotion of the entire crew to make this show what it was.

What is your favourite terrible special effect? Um...any attempt to tone down the romance?

What is (one of) your favourite relationship(s) on the show (either romantic or friendship) and what do you like about that relationship? Obviously I am head over heels for Shen Wei + Zhao Yunlan but I adore the relationship Zhao Yunlan has with Da Qing. It's cozy but not soft. I love seeing various aspects and possibilities of their relationship explored in fic.

Do you have a favourite character? Other than the main leads, I'm 100% team Zhu Hong, and it kills me that I don't have anyone to ship her with.

Do you have a favourite villain? I actually enjoy how much I hate the Regent, which is something I can't say for the others whom I find either annoying or enraging. Seriously, I just can't with Ye Zun. Like, at all.

Talk to us about one (or more!) of your favourite Guardian-related canons: I only watched the first three episodes of Detective L--loved it, but am at a place right now where I need satisfying endings, so...I'll probaby watch the rest of it eventually, but not yet. Other than that, just the constructed reality vids from their various productions.

Do you like RPF? I didn't until Guardian! It's gotta be AU type stuff, though, because my heart can't take thinking about them in love when they can't be out about it.

Do you have a favourite ad campaign (such as Bai Yu's rentboy photoshoot or Zhu Yilong's ReFa ads)? Bai Yu's Addicted Blue shoot vid paired with Schwarzkopf Color. Also the Thermos Magic Cottage.

What other fandoms are you in or have you been in? Currently, History 3: Trapped and due South, although I hung out in Sherlock fandom for a while *sad trombone*. Haven't been able to even re-read old fics since Season 3 tho. I still read ACD and Ritche!verse Sherlock Holmes, as well as Will/Hannibal, Arthur/Eames, Kirk/Spock, Marcus/Esca, and occasionally I peek at what the Venom fandom is up to. I also love Resonant's Brian/Bender fic (Breakfast Club) and Transfigurations (the only Harry/Draco fic I'll ever need).

What are some of your general fanwork likes: Honestly, I came to fanworks for the smut and that hasn't changed. Guardian is the first fandom that's pulled me in enough to read Gen or T. I like pining, angst with a happy ending, and porn with feels.

Anything else you want to say? Fandom is my life, not even joking. Kinda wish I was, but I'm not. A million thanks to the fandom friends who helped me limp through last year and here's looking at y'all who're gonna help haul my ass through this one, too. Gold star medals for everyone.

If I stop watching Detective L before the last three eps does it end on a marginally-acceptable note? Because I'm fine skipping the last three eps if it at least has closure for the current arc.

I spent the show waiting for the metaplot to make an appearance, and it only had brief cameos up until the last case. So yeah, for me I feel like it ends on a "and then they went out and solved more crimes" kind fo note? The penultimate case (as far as I remember) wraps up without going all cliffhanger.

I will leave a plug for Detective L — without spoiling much, I found the ending mostly satisfying. There’s clearly set up for a second season, although one major things is kind of tied off. But I would still plug it because the dynamic between Luo Fei/Qin Xiaoman/Benjamin is good (acting as well) AND I love the way the show handles the women! There are a lot of different types of ladies in the show, so it isn’t dumping all the emotional weight or tropes on one character. There are small, 3-4 episode arcs for smaller mysteries that I found really compelling. Luo Fei is really what I wanted BBC’s Sherlock to deliver. But the ladies sell the show for me (I mean, BY of course, but also). And if I could add one more plug for the Japanese show Miss Sherlock — it completely steals from the BBC Sherlock and makes it 10 times better. I was able to watch it by getting a week free of HBO through Amazon Prime. I think there are six episodes. Okay byeeeee

I very much enjoyed the first three episodes of Detective L, and hadn't even met Benjamin, so I know it just gets better! When I'm ready to give it a go, I'll contact you for more detailed spoilers because I spoil myself for nearly e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Miss Sherlock has been on my watchlist for ages, thank you for the assurance that it's good!

BENJAMIN! My son! Okay, yes, whenever you want to shout about it with me, HMU. I’ve been toying with abandoning Fairyland Lovers and rewatching DL. I may just skim through to BY’s scenes.
AND Miss Sherlock! Hokay, but seriously, whenever I start to doubt my bi-ness because I’m obsessed with too many beautiful men, I remember Yuko Takeuchi (Sherlock herself) and am like “Ah. Yes.” She’s incredible.

FWIW, I *loved* Detective L and I'm okay with how it ended. I wish there had been a second season, but I can live with where they left it. I recommend watching the whole series when you have the room to do so!

And yeah, same on Transfigurations (except I never read much HP--I only started Transfigurations bc I was already familiar with Resonant's stuff. and then I read the whole thing in one day.). It's SO GOOD.
