How did you first get into Guardian fandom? In spring 2019 a few different moots made recruitment posts here on dreamwidth about the drama. I was iffy but decided to see what the love was about and...here we are. :)
What is one thing you love about the show? Not to be a stereotype but I love the relationship between Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan. That really grabbed me from the start, how different and yet attuned to each other they are (thank you, BY and ZYL!)
What is your favourite terrible special effect? *sighhhh* the Hollows. All of them. Every time they show up. They just...they look like carnival ride decorations.
What is (one of) your favourite relationship(s) on the show (either romantic or friendship) and what do you like about that relationship? Aside from Weilan? Zhao Yunlan and Da Qing. I love their banter, their easy familiarity, and their obvious love for each other. Found family is a huge plus for me!
Do you have a favourite character? Shen Wei, predictably. I love the quiet ones.
Do you have a favourite villain? Ye Zun, always and forever amen.
Talk to us about one (or more!) of your favourite Guardian-related canons: Look I'm a sucker for timey-wimey time travel shenanigans so I love that Weilan had TWO "first meetings" and I just wish we had gotten 10 episodes set in YOHE too.
Do you like RPF? Yes!!!
Do you have a favourite ad campaign (such as Bai Yu's rentboy photoshoot or Zhu Yilong's ReFa ads)? Bai Yu, Tiffany (although his Lancome game is strong, it fails b/c they never show him putting ON the lipstick)
What other fandoms are you in or have you been in? Oy vey. A very long list? Old school K/S girl from the way back and many in between (due South, SGA are in the mix). These days I'm heavy into c-drama fandom with Nirvana in Fire and Untamed/CQL, and also getting into c-novels (PLEASE ask me about "I Ship My Adversary and Me"!!!)
What are some of your general fanwork likes: I love long fic b/c I'm a fast reader, so anything less than 10k is, like, a snack. I want to be immersed in the story for a while! I am partial to fix-it fic and happy endings b/c life is grim enough thankyouverymuch. I really enjoy deep, character-driven plots but I also really love me some good old fashioned tropes like arranged marriage, time travel, found family, friends (or enemies!) to lovers, and OMG GIVE ME THE IDENTITY PORN ALL OF IT *grabby hands*
