How did you first get into Guardian fandom? I watched this video by AvenueX, somehow managed to persuade a friend to watch the show even though I hadn't yet, and then she pimped me into it.
What is one thing you love about the show? They're so!! in love!! UGH
What is your favourite terrible special effect? 😂

What is (one of) your favourite relationship(s) on the show (either romantic or friendship) and what do you like about that relationship? OBVIOUSLY Weilan. But I also love Zhao Yunlan and Da Qing's friendship - I love that they're so casually physically affectionate with each other, and they're super fun to write.
Do you have a favourite character? I am stupidly and ridiculously in love with Zhao Yunlan's flirtatious, lolling, orally-fixated, brave, loyal self.
Do you have a favourite villain? I'm not really a villain fan, but Zhu Jiu at least has entertaining hair.
Talk to us about one (or more!) of your favourite Guardian-related canons: I love Detective L, because Bai Yu has never been more beautiful, the clothes are amazing, and I love period detective stuff in general. Also, Qin Xiaoman is a tiny brawler and I adore her. I've never managed to get into anything else Zhu Yilong has done, but I'm looking forward to Lost Tomb 3!

Do you have a favourite ad campaign (such as Bai Yu's rentboy photoshoot or Zhu Yilong's ReFa ads)? My brain just went into shutdown here because I started thinking about Zhu Yilong tenderly stroking his finger down a phallic object, so there's your answer!
What other fandoms are you in or have you been in? I love Nirvana in Fire, but I'm not really active in the fandom at all, although I've written a couple of fics. Bandom was the fandom of my heart for a long time, and the one that made me create a journal, stop being solely a lurker, and start making fannish friends.
What are some of your general fanwork likes: Pining! Fluff! H/C but with a LOT of comfort! Identity porn! Regular porn! This fandom was made for me.
Where can we best find you to squee more about this thing or other things? I love twitter (yan_tan_tether) and spend WAY too much time on there. Right now I'm tweeting a lot about my current rewatch - up to ep 9! And my fic is at yantantether (ETA: and Dreamwidth too lol.)

Detective L!! I love it for all the same reasons. I’m really hoping next year, once the virus stuff calms down, to go to Shanghai. They have a film park, kind of like a Universal Studios tour, and you can see the Guardian and Detective L city sets.

Oh I will absolutely scream about it when I do make plans. And if you get to China in the 2020-2021 school year, let me know. I can always get “sick” and take a long weekend in Shanghai to recover if my school breaks don’t work. I’m hoping to move on after next school year. That will be my third year. Maaaaaybe I could do one more after, but who knows. But yeah, I will plaster it all over social media when/if I get to go to the film park.

Probably. I mean, by the looks of things on the website, there are the 1930’s Shanghai sets, which are probably used for more than DL, but I live in hope!

I think the Granting You a Dreamlike Life sets are in the same film park (I was planning to go to Shanghai to visit that place this year, but the COVID-19 thing has derailed those plans for the time being). Dreamlike Life and Detective L share several sets, like the hospital.

I can't wait to read the Guardian novel! I'm a little bit freaking out because SPL just wrapped up, too. I've been waiting for both for so long, and now I'm a little overwhelmed because I want to give them each a lot of time and attention, but I also want to gorge on them as quickly as possible. Help!

What a great problem to have! I guess Guardian might be a few more weeks, though (although 106 and the epilogues have already been translated, so I think there are only actually three chapters to go.) I was following along, but I stopped at about 100 (?) and am waiting to read the last few chapters all at once.

Ohh! I haven't read any of the novel, but am SO CURIOUS. I've been waiting on a complete translation to begin though. So glad to know that it's almost done! :D

I'm doing a reread at the moment and it's such a delight! And all that's missing now is about half the final chapter and that should be done within the next week or so. And then hopefully some very, very kind person might compile it (the current translators have mentioned doing this) because it's currently in about eight different bits on different sites.

Wow. I just checked that video and I admit if I'd come across that... I would not have watched Guardian. She starts off with this looong list of what she considers to be wrong with it, and me, being an impatient soul, would not have waited until she finally got around to what she considers to be right. I admire your persistence!
