I had a blast at Escapade this year! Getting to squee with you about Guardian and be in the panel. A few more folks hit me up for episodes after the panel, so I think we did good work spreading the word. :D

I also love how well-developed and likeable the main members of the supporting cast are.

This! Sometimes I forget how great the supporting cast is and then I'll rewatch an episode and get caught up in their stories. I thought the casting of the main characters was really very good.

I'm really *interested* in Zhao Yunlan's relationship with his father and the effect that has had on him (and how he's managed to become a very different person from his father despite that influence)

It is a really interesting relationship backstory and explains *so much* about Zhao Yunlan.

For sure it's Bai Yu's rentboy photoshoot. It took me a really long time to assimilate those images.

FWIW, I *loved* Detective L and I'm okay with how it ended. I wish there had been a second season, but I can live with where they left it. I recommend watching the whole series when you have the room to do so!

I think the Granting You a Dreamlike Life sets are in the same film park (I was planning to go to Shanghai to visit that place this year, but the COVID-19 thing has derailed those plans for the time being). Dreamlike Life and Detective L share several sets, like the hospital.

Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu's ludicrous chemistry together.

I did not seek out a new RPF fandom, I thought those days were behind me, then Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu appear on screen together...

Oh gosh, yes, the YouTube subtitles... My first watch was on YouTube last summer and the subtitles struggle was real! Characters would have different names (not even counting the nicknames). Hallows/Holy Tools/Sacred Tools and I swear there was at least one other name for those things. They didn't throw me out too badly, I guess, since I watched it all in 5 days, but I was very confused about a lot of things. Not enough thanks in the world to solo for QCing the subtitles and sharing the video files without the Chinese hardsubs.

i wasn't spoiled for the time loop so i assumed the flashbacks were an earlier incarnation (or something along those lines that would pass censorship), and - I WAS NOT PREPARED. it whammied me so, so hard. i may never recover.

This was my experience, too. I had a few theories that kept changing as the series progressed but time travel was NOT one of them and WOW!

I just started a rewatch of History3: Trapped. Really enjoying it!

Zhu Yilong clearly has a twin brother who is also an actor and he's fantastic! So evil! So sympathetic and understandable in his evilness! I wonder what else that actor has done?

What a great problem to have! I guess Guardian might be a few more weeks, though (although 106 and the epilogues have already been translated, so I think there are only actually three chapters to go.) I was following along, but I stopped at about 100 (?) and am waiting to read the last few chapters all at once.
