Invitation to share stories, memories and headcanons
With thanks to
naye for her wonderful input on this post.
As the Lunar New Year approaches, we would love to invite people who have celebrated Lunar New Year to share their stories and memories. Personal stories are important. They help people connect. It is one thing to read the Wikipedia page about Lunar New Year and learn about the holiday in broad strokes, and another to hear about how those traditions manifest for specific people and their families.
For us as mods, as Western fans of a Chinese show, engaging respectfully with Chinese culture is important to us and we would like to take this opportunity to deepen our understanding.
We would also love to know if, if you have celebrated Lunar New Year, you have headcanons about how the characters celebrate. For instance, what would Shen Wei do? Are there perhaps traditions that are older that he might observe, or observe some things differently? What about the Yashou? What does Lunar New Year look like in Dixing?
You do not have to be a participant in the Sundial Exchange to contribute.
